<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim Howle graduated from the Ringling Art School and from the very first class of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Clown College in 1968. Touring seven years as tramp clown,"Hobo Jim", with the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Circus he performed in "The Greatest Show on Earth" and was the shows official clown artist. In 1994, Jim became an inductee in the International Clown Hall of Fame*. His art work is included in the Portrait Gallery of Smithsonian Institute and the Leningrad Gallery. He has developed his own line of clown noses and clown make-up. Jim is a popular instructor and has taught at the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey's Clown College, the University of Wisconsin Clown Camp®**, and many other locations. We are proud and honored to have Jim as our featured instructor.
<br>&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <p><font color="#000000">Bruce "Charlie" Johnson
<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Bruce Johnson has been a clown since 1974. He spent six seasons with outdoor circuses, and eleven years at the Raging Waters Amusement Park in San Dimas, CA. He was also a juggler for special events at Disneyland. including the grand opening of Toontown. Described as a clown whose artistry and skill have reached international status, Bruce is recognized by hi s peers as an entertainment expert and historian. Every year since 1990 he has been on the staff of the University of Wisconsin Clown Camp®. Bruce was a columnist for Laugh-Makers Variety Journal, and has had over 800 articles published in trade magazines. He wrote the highly acclaimed Comedy Techniques and most recently Creativity For Entertainers trilogy. Bruce holds numerous awards and is a member of; Circus History Society, Clowns of America International, Fellowship of Christian Clowns, Fellowship of Christian Magicians, International Clown Hall of Fame and Research Center, and the World Clown Association, to mention a few. <br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Pete Walterscheid bill's himself as the "World's 41,532nd Greatest Magician." He is a part-time professional magician that takes pride in what he presents. He considers himself a serious student of slight-of-hand and frequently performs without the use of gimmicks or fake apparatus. He has had years performing festivals, banquets, and corporate events; as well as a restaurant magician performing weekly in southeast Kansas. He has been active in the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians for over 20 years. In past years, he has taught summer magic courses to children offered by Coffeyville Curtural Arts and for Kid's Academy sponsored by Coffeyville Community Collage to write and produce a full-length magic stage show for Halloween 2008. His lecture for this year's "Clown-In" is titled "Beginning Magic" that promised to be a wealth of information regardless of experience or lack thereof.

<br>
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jim Harkness was a former Sedan, Kansas, resident through Junior High. As Chairman of the Clown School committee, Jim has helped bring together many of our featured instructors and has helped plan various aspects of this entire event. Jim has received his B.B.A. and M.B.A. in Business Administration with Human Behavior Emphasis at National University in San Diego, California, where he also graduated in 1987 from the San Diego State University, Clown School. Jim has continued his learning by participating in professional training workshops for 5 years with Clown Camp®, at La Cross, WI, and 6 Years with the Clown Jam in Branson, MO. As a professional Clown, Jim taught "Clownology" for 5 semesters at Independence Community College and has clowned for the Salvation Army as well as for other charitable organizations. Jim's other professional activities include clowning for various birthday parties, grand openings, child care centers, school programs, nursing homes, the Neewollah Parade in Independence, KS and therapeutic clowning for the Oklahoma Children's Burn Center sponsored by the Tulsa Fire Department. Jim clowns throughout the SE Kansas, NE Oklahoma, and SW Missouri area. Jim is a member of the Bartlesville Fun Addicts (OK), the Wichita Kansas Ring Leaders, the San Diego All Stars and is the current 2007 President of the Mirza Shriners, "Jokers" Clown Unit in Independence, Kansas. A very busy man, whom we are proud and honored to have as our featured instructor. <br>&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <br>&nbsp; <p><font color="#000000">Phil Skow

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Phil Skow, C.F.F. (Certified Funny Face) was first fascinated by a balloon over twenty years ago when one blew up in his face. If you don't believe it, take a look at his picture. It really changed his life. Even in collage he was called upon when everyone wanted a laugh. A very funny man full of dexterous acts and tricks. We are proud and honored to have Phil as our featured instructor. ( "Bio" will be updated soon, I hope.)

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Dr. Eva Harkness holds a Ph. D. in Early Childhood Developemental Psychology and works for Independence Community College as Lead Instructor for the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education programs. She has worked in the child care and education field for over 25 years. Dr. Eva Harkness will be speaking on, "Why Children Run Scared", and will deal with the following questions: How do children see clowns? What makes some afraid while others clap in glee? This course will explore how children's age affects their acceptance of clowns and methods of approach that will work best in reducing their fear.
